| The Leadership and Management Development
Council of B.C. (LMDC) serves as a catalyst in helping to strengthen leadership
and management capabilities among small and medium-sized businesses in
British Columbia.
Established in the spring of 1995, the LMDC was created in response
to a BC Chamber of Commerce report that B.C. businesses would have to
improve their leadership and management skills in order to become more
competitive. The report, entitled “Moving
Forward: The Vision of B.C. Business,” documented feedback
received from over 600 small business owners and some 90 business, industry
and professional associations.
The results of the Moving Forward project
demonstrated the need to make substantial improvements to our business
environment. Business leaders themselves recognized that their ability
to manage their businesses successfully was vital to the strength of
the B.C. economy.
The LMDC was established to focus attention on these issues and to
bring together the tools and resources needed to help business owners
prepare for long-term success.
The LMDC is a non-profit organization comprised of representatives
from educational institutions, the business community, and the federal
and provincial governments. Lead corporate partners are Telus, the BC
Chamber of Commerce, Certified Management Accountants of BC and Fasken
Martineau. |
